Aloha
kakou:
Encourage all those you
know to attend the La Ho'iho'i Ea (Restoration Day) gathering. It's part of our
history and the Hawai'i Kingdom's holiday. It's an excellent time to kukakuka
and education. Bring your own lunch or potluck. Kanikapila, listen to speakers
and reunite with friends and 'ohana. It's from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. at Thomas
Square, across from the HIC and makai of Honolulu Academy of Arts. Let's
support those that are putting this together; make plans to be
there.
The occasion began in
1843 when Admiral Thomas reaffirmed their treaty with Hawai'i and deoccupied it,
thus restoring the Kingdom to King Kamehameha III, Kauikeaouli. Since then, it
became a national holiday and the national motto established, "Ua mau ke ea o ka
'aina i ka pono." Perpetual sovereignty of the land is righteous. It is right
and creates harmony and balance. Let's reaffirm it and make it a celebration of
life.
Love,
Tane
