Letters on Leis and Lies
The
Simon magazine published my
letter
(scroll down) suggesting some historical
corrections to an article
on Hawaii's history, which also draws parallels between Hawaii and Iraq. The
magazine also published Ken Conkin's letter, in which he once again spreads the
misinformation that "A few radicals want to make all
Hawai'i an independent nation where only ethnic Hawaiians would have full voting
and property rights." Actually, I can't say there aren't a few people out there
who might feel that way, but he states it in what can only be an intentionally
misleading manner to suggest that all who support independence hold this view,
when the truth is that the vast majority of independence advocates favor
political and property rights based on nationality, as in citizenship, not on
race or ethnicity. A couple other letters on the
subject there as well. (Note, this is actually from April but was just brought
to my attention.)
