Still no sign erected at Kamehameha's statue
C. Richard Fassler has a
letter
in the
Advertiser
saying, "Kamehameha Day is here again, and there is still no sign at the statue.
No sign to say when the greatest person in Hawai'i's history lived or died, or
where he resided, or his magnificent accomplishments. The only indication that
he was a king is a flimsy piece of metal that says 'King Kamehameha Statue' in
barely readable letters." He calls it "disgraceful when one considers the
revival of interest in our monarchial past and the rise of the sovereignty
movement with its celebration of our unique culture and
traditions."
