Apology Bill anniversary
Today is the anniversary of President Clinton's
1993 signing of the Apology for the
United States' illegal invasion of Hawaii in
1893."...the
logical consequences of this resolution would be
independence." - Senator Slade
Gorton, US Senate
Congressional
RecordUpdate:
BTW, as I have said before, I believe that the major error with the bill is that
it was directed exclusively to "Native Hawaiians" when in fact the actions of
the U.S. were a violation against the entire multi-ethnic population of Hawaiian
subjects. It does appear that the bill was designed as a first step in the
attempt to finally reclassify Native Hawaiians as a domestic dependent nation,
which requires that one ignore the historical fact that the international crime
was committed against the entire national population of a country, not just the
"indigenous" subset of the population within that country.
