USA has no legal standing in Hawaii. Period.
Petro Hoy has another letter in the
Maui
News today saying "I call upon all good
Americans – and there are millions of them – to demand their
government to cease and desist its financial genocide in a peaceful sovereign
nation." He makes a challenge to prove in an open forum that Hawaii belongs to
the United States, and says "all good settlers please be informed your
government, the USA, has no legal standing in Hawaii. Period."
He says, "The illegal provisional courts are systematically robbing the kanaka maoli of their land rights," and then concludes that "More than 100 legal heir affidavits recently were filed with the international courts of justice in the Hague, Netherlands. Thousands more are being prepared. The financial and cultural genocide of a wonderful sovereign nation’s peaceful people must cease."
I have no idea whether these affidavits are being filed properly and could have any effect or just end up being tossed in the round file, but I guess we'll see.
And I wish he would focus more on Hawaiian nationals rather than exclusively on "kanaka maoli" (and I prefer the term "na oiwi" anyway, since kanaka maoli was used in the kingdom documents as a term referring to piha or full Hawaiians). Hoy gives the misleading impression that the issue is based on ethnicity rather than nationality. While land issues specifically may be related to na oiwi as heirs, this is separate from the larger question of the occupation of Hawaii and the lack of valid U.S. jurisdiction. That is an issue of nationality, and it is important that people understand that Hawaiian nationality is not ethnically defined.
