Hawaiians on probation (satire)
On the Colbert Report
tonight (one of my favorite shows, very insightful political satire, on Comedy
Central at 9:30 & 11:30 after The Daily Show) Stephen Colbert had
this:Fract
(Freedom Fact)
Hawaii was the last state admitted to the union.
Don't get too comfortable Hawaiians.
You're still on probation.
What exactly
that means I'm not really sure. But I find it curious. Being satire, he wen'
huli the whole idea. Having statehood revoked is a punishment. Which is funny to
think about. What would Hawaiians have to do wrong to violate probation and get
their independence back? And it actually alludes to the concept of continuity.
But why would he even bring it up and joke of it? Whatever his reason, it plants
an interesting seed of an idea.
