Honoring King and the Queen

AdvertiserMartin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated Monday with several events this weekend including a parade and unity rally in Waikiki.
The events also include a Royal Hawaiian Band concert at 11:30 a.m. Friday at 'Iolani Palace in honor of both King and Lili'uokalani, Hawai'i's last queen, who was overthrown on Jan. 17, 1893.

Additionally, "The Legacy of Peace-builders in the Asia Pacific: King, Queen, and a 'Servant,' " a panel discussion exploring the lives of King, Lili'uokalani and Mahatma Gandhi sponsored by the East-West Center, is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Wailana Room, Garden Level of the Imin Center, Jefferson Hall.
