UH looks at non-violent change pioneers

Advertiser:A presentation on the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; Queen Lili'uokalani; and Mahatma Gandhi and their commitment to non-violent social change will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the UH-Manoa Campus' East-West Center.
The program is held in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 15), the anniversary of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy (Jan. 17), and the year-long 100th anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's 'Satyagraha' movement of non-violent resistance in the pursuit of truth.

Andre Wooten, leading Civil Rights attorney, vice president of the African American Lawyers Association of Hawaii, and advocate for social justice
Lynette Hi'ilani Cruz, assistant professor of Anthropology at HPU, EWC alumna, and chair of Ka Lei Maile Ali'i Hawaiian Civic Club
Steve Kuhio Vogeler, East-West Center degree fellow, Ph.D. candidate and lecturer in Political Science, and scholar of non-violent social change.
