Quite warmly as you love your country, so they love theirs
For us Americans here in Hawaii, a good reminder
while we're appreciating how much we love our country
today...Oh, honest Americans, as Christians hear me for my downtrodden people! Their form of government is as dear to them as yours is as precious to you. Quite warmly as you love your country, so they love theirs.
—Queen Lili'uokalani, Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen, 1898
Oh
and BTW, this is also the day in 1894 when the traitorous "Provisional
Government" oligarchy proclaimed themselves to be a "Republic." Haha. According
to President Cleveland less than six months earlier: "Indeed, the
representatives of that government assert that the people of Hawaii are unfit
for popular government and frankly avow that they can be best ruled by arbitrary
or despotic power." The antithesis of the American ideal. It's actually a
notorious day in Hawaii's history. Important to recognize, no matter how much
this day means to us, it does not mean the same thing to everyone
here.
