Ka Lei Maile Alii: The Queen's Women
The reenactment of a gathering of the Queen's supporters in Hilo in 1897 as recorded in the San Francisco Call by reporter Miriam Michelson.
When Mrs. Emma Aima Nawahi (wife of Hawaiian patriot Joseph Nawahi and a patriot herself) wrote letters to Queen Liliuokalani, she often addressed her as "Kamailealii" - hence the title of this special presentation. Please join us as we honor both the Queen and also the women who stood fast with her throughout her life - women like Emma Nawahi, Abigail Kuaihelani Campbell, Kahalewai Cummins and many others.
This event is free and open to the public.
