Kamehameha settlement prroposed
The Advertiser reports
that "Kamehameha Schools is considering a court settlement that would allow a
12-year-old non-Hawaiian boy from Kaua'i to remain at the Kapalama campus until
he graduates, if his lawyers drop their lawsuit challenging the school's
Hawaiians-preferred admissions policy." The Star-Bulletin also reports
on the story. As several letters have
noted recently, his mother falsified his admission documents, and the judge only
forced KS to admit him because the school discovered that fact too close to the
start of the year. Whether one agrees with KS Hawaiian preference admissions
policy or not, does it seem right that someone who submits a fraudulent
application be rewarded with a secured spot until graduation?
