Court proceedings give some Hawaiians hope
The Advertiser reports:
"A federal judge is expected to rule in two weeks on a portion of the landmark
Arakaki v. Lingle lawsuit challenging Hawaiian entitlements, but proponents of
those entitlements are taking hope today that Hawaiian homesteaders, at least,
might not be targets for much longer... [U.S. District Court Judge Susan Oki]
Mollway, unlike most federal judges, releases advance written 'inclinations'
about how she’s likely to rule, allowing attorneys to prepare their
arguments for the hearing. According to those inclinations,
it appears unlikely that she favors a
total dismantling of the
programs."
