Kamehameha Schools trustee selection
In his
Advertiser
column
David Shapiro looks at the selection of a new Kamehameha Schools trustee to
succeed Constance Lau. While he is critical that all three nominees have "deep
ties to Hawai'i's political and business establishments," I do think that Allen
Hoe is the most independent in this regard, one of several reasons why he is the
best choice, another being that he has a clear understanding of Hawaii's history
and law from an international perspective, which may end up being important in
protecting the trust, which was after all founded under the Hawaiian kingdom in
the first place. Remember, you can still
provide comments for the candidates before 4 p.m. Dec. 1

I encourage folks to write in support of
Allen Hoe. More background here.
