Hawaiian heritage proof a concern in safe-haven veto?
On his Volcanic Ash blog, David Shapiro notes
re Lingle's veto warning of the baby safe-haven law: "The Republican governor
fears that allowing desperate parents to leave babies they can't care for at
police stations, fire stations and hospitals without fear of prosecution would
make it difficult for abandoned children to prove native Hawaiian lineage for
purposes such as gaining admissions to Kamehameha Schools."
