Abandoned by builder, unfinished DHHL homes damaged by rain
Star-Bulletin has a story
on the abandonment of unfinished Hawaiian Homes houses that now sit exposed to
Hilo rains, while the financial burden of the beneficiaries mounts. As Ian Lind
noted
Tuesday, the contractor Fredco, Inc., a construction subsidiary of Menehune
Development Co., owned by West Hawaii businessman Fred Yamashiro, had little
construction experience but became DHHL's favorite contractor after Lingle came
in. Lingle's cronies profit while Hawaiians suffer.
