Hawaii Fair Lending Coalition challenges BofA merger
Hawaii Fair Lending Coalition, along with the
California Reinvestment Committee, has challenged Bank of America's proposed
merger with Fleet Bank of Boston, "seeking a full investigation of the impact of
this large conglomerate on access to credit for under-served neighborhoods,"
according to their press
release."'The Bank has
failed to meet its Federal Reserve-ordered commitment of
$150 million to Native Hawaiians for
mortgage loans on their home lands,' said Ian
Chan Hodges, with the Hawaiian Fair Lending Coalition (808-573-1000). 'We
Intend to raise that issue in the regulatory proceedings.'"
