The University of Hawaii expects to complete in the next ten days the draft of a contract to establish a research partnership with the U.S. Navy through a university-affiliated research center.

His comments came after eight faculty from an ad-hoc committee issued a report asking school administrators to postpone seeking approval of the research partnership by the Board of Regents until a plan was completed and adequately reviewed.

Last spring, dozens of students and others occupied the office of university interim President David McClain to protest the proposed research center.
