Stryker opposition; Kaho'olawe contradictions
The Star-Bulletin reports
that at the Army's final public meeting on O'ahu regarding the proposed Stryker
brigade, about 200 people, dozens carrying protest signs, attended to oppose the
plan. After two hours of testimony involving about 60 people, only one person
spoke in favor of bringing the Stryker brigade here.
And Steve Tayama writes a letter
in the Advertiser that points out contradictions in the return of Kaho'olawe, including the fact that
with the Stryker proposal, "The military is now asking for almost exactly the
same amount of lands to bomb and train on..."
