Stryker combat tests; Army's shameful treatment of protesters
A Star-Bulletin article
about tests beginning to determine the combat effectiveness of Strykers, and the
Army's plans for their future in Hawaii. Kyle Kajehiro from AFSC-Hawaii posted on a
sovereignty email list: "Note the pro-military slant of the article. No mention
of opposition and controversy over the procurement and test rigging. Also, note
that the LOCATION FOR THE TUESDAY MEETING IS LISTED INCORRECTLY AS MAKAHA
RESORT! Tuesday's meeting will be at the Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku! Opponents
of the Stryker expansion will rally outside at 5:30 pm and go in to the meeting
at 7:00 pm."Royle Kaneshige writes
in the Star-Bulletin letters that the Army's arrest of Stryker protesters was
"shameful" and says that although he doesn't agree with the protesters, it
"seems like the actions of the military and the security at the country club was
more in line with something Saddam Hussein would condone."
