a.m. at the Honolulu Hale Atrium, Kuleana 'Oiwi Press is sponsoring a panel of
Native Hawaiian, Pacific, and local Hawai'i authors to address "The Politics of
Literature and Place," and the difficulties of publishing and promoting ethnic
and local writers in Hawai'i.Panelists
include Poet Mahealani Kamau'u, who received Hawai'i's most prestigious literary
award, the Elliott Cades Award for Literature in 1993; reknowned Poet and Artist
'Imaikalani Kalahele, and Nai'a Watson, co-founder of Pae 'Aina Productions, an
independent Native Hawaiian press.This
event is part of the Hawai'i Book and Music Festival Program this weekend at
Honolulu Hale.
