Demand makes poi shortage possible

Star-Bulletin
reports
that, "as demand increases because of graduation parties, baby luaus and long
holiday weekends, taro supplies may run short, poi producers

News says that "The Hawaii Agricultural
Statistics estimates poi millers used 1.2 million pounds of taro in the first
quarter, down 17 percent from the previous quarter but 4 percent higher than a
year ago."
