Hawaiians to Occupy Puu for Vigil
On Friday, August 29, Hawaiians from all over the
islands will converge to conduct a religious
vigil upon the slopes of the sacred Pu'u Ohau, to continue throughout
the weekend. The purpose of the vigil is to malama the kupuna who are buried
there and to pray for their protection, and to raise public awareness on this
issue and to send a message to Governor Lingle that desecration of sacred
Hawaiian sites will not be tolerated.
