Historical Hawaiian language newspapers online soon
According to today's Advertiser, "A treasure
trove of Hawaiian history sits in tens of thousands of pages from 125
different Hawaiian-language newspapers that were published from the early 1800s
to the middle 1900s. That history, most of it microfilmed but never republished
or translated, should begin to be available via the Internet as early as
September. It will be a searchable
database in the original
Hawaiian."
