Lingle urged to get Bush backing for Akaka bill
Reps. Case and Abercrombie appear to be
squabbling with Gov. Lingle over whose responsibility it is to put energy where
to win support for the Akaka bill. Abercrombie and Case are saying that at the
end of the session last year the Bush administration "sent a signal to block a
provision inserted in an appropriations bill" when they tried to sneak it
through that way. Abercrombie says Lingle may be putting her energy into the
congressional vote-getting campaign because she's "not able to deliver" the
White House support. The Advertiser

story.
