HO'OLA: Restoring Health to Hawai'i

in the Hawai'i Island Journal:
"Much has been written from a Western-based medical perspective about the critical problem of high mortality rates and overall poor health indicators among Native Hawaiians. But many Hawaiians see the issue in an entirely different light, one that encompasses the entire spectrum of traditional cultural practices that have been historically and currently suppressed and marginalized. With the growing revitalization of these Hawaiian traditions, there is hope that the trend of declining Hawaiian health can be reversed."
