Akaka Bill program missed the point
E. Kanakanui writes a
letter
in today's
Advertiser
about OHA's "Akaka Bill: Myth or Reality?" program, that "It was
clear to me that there was no one on the panel who was speaking in the interest
of kanaka maoli," noting that none of the panelists were experts in Hawaiian law
or international law, and that "tons of evidence show the effect of the
prolonged U.S. occupation of Hawai'i is having detrimental effects on this
institution and everyone's health, education and the economic development of
Hawai'i as a whole."
