Akaka bill clears Senate Indian Affairs Committee
The
Advertiser
has a more extensive
story
today on the Akaka bill passage by the Senate
Committee on Indian Affairs. It notes that Sen. Akaka is still expressing doubts
about passage through the full senate because of the "heavy legislation" that is
before them, and Inouye said that "he would still expect those opposed to the
bill to use any means at their disposal to block it." This is actually the
fourth time the bill has been passed by this committee.
