Earthquake; Kipahulu Thanksgiving
We just had another earthquake. Fairly minor
compared to the big one last month, but the house shook pretty good for several
seconds. Hopefully that's the last of it for
today.And Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
We all have much to be grateful
for. We're headed out to Kipahulu for
Thanksgiving, where there is a imu at the kitchen. Kalua Turkey! We have to
walk across the closed bridge and catch a ride from there. Here's a
Star-Bulletin
article
on the Kipahulu Thanksgiving. It has been a big community potluck for years, but
this year does hold special significance, first because it is the first
Thanksgiving with the kitchen operational, and second because of the community's
isolation due to the bridge closure, which has brought everyone together even
more. I'll post photos tomorrow hopefully, and share more about the overall
situation in Kipahulu, where I've been helping with communications and
coordination since the bridge closure.
