Specializing in international relations and public law??
Keanu Sai received his doctorate degree in “political science” from the University of Hawai‘i at Mänoa

How does a political science graduate all of a suddenly become a International Law authority?????

When you get an M.A. degree or Ph.D. degree in Political Science you specialize in a particular area. These areas of specialization include american politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory, political methodology, public policy, public administration and public law. Dr. Sai received his M.A. degree specializing in international relations, and his Ph.D. specializing in both international relations and public law, with particular emphasis on the Hawaiian Kingdom Kamehameha I to the present. I know Dr. Sai and the political science department at UH Manoa can verify that he indeed specialized in international relations and public law. So Dr. Sai would be an authority by virtue of his Ph.D., and his various law journal articles on this subject.

    • “American politics” examines political behavior and institutions in the United States.
    • “Comparative politics” analyzes and compares political systems within and across different geographic regions.
    • “International relations” investigates relations among nation states and the activities of international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, and NATO, as well as international actors such as terrorists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multi-national corporations (MNCs).
    • “Political theory” analyzes fundamental political concepts such as power and democracy and foundational questions, like “How should the individual and the state relate?”
    • “Political methodology” deals with the ways that political scientists ask and investigate questions.
    • “Public policy” examines the process by which governments make public decisions.
    • “Public administration” studies the ways that government policies are implemented.
    • “Public law” focuses on the role of law and courts in the political process, which includes international law, constitutional law and administrative law.

So shouldn’t we then be seeking out people or someone whom has M.A or degree in International or in this case Public International Law rather then someone concerned with the theory and practice of politics and the analysis of political systems and political behavior?

Public international law deals with the structure and conduct of sovereign state, intergovernmental organizations, and analogous entities.
Public international law can be divided into two central branches: international agreements and conventions, and the law of nations.
The four main sources of public international law are: customs, international treaties, teachings, and general principles of law and judicial decisions.
The groundwork and foundation for identifying states as principal actors in the international legal system has been instituted by public international law.

Having taken a look at public international law, its meaning, its reach, and its effect, we can gain a general idea of how it works and its importance to international law. It is in essence a categorization for a group of international laws that fall under it, pertaining to the sovereign power or department creating them, and who they entail to. In conclusion, it is safe to understand that public international law is the law of a political system of nation-states that bestows laws upon national systems it touches, which are not adequately governed.
