Netroots, Grassroots, & the Rise of People-Powered Politics
Outside of Hawaii's issues that I focus on here, I
also follow U.S. politics through several of my favorite progressive blogs, the
one the I visit the most regularly being DailyKos. DailyKos founder Markos
Moulitsas Zúniga and Jerome Armstrong, who blogs at MyDD, have authored a new book entitled
Crashing the
Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered
Politics about taking back and winning
with the Democratic Party from the bottom up and using the Internet. I haven't
read the book yet, but it seems to be getting great reviews (and Markos was
quite good last night on The Colbert Report). Anyway, Bill McKibben has written
a review in
The New York Review of
Books that is well worth reading, to get some
insight into the role and influence of blogging in U.S. politics and
media.
